NorCal Pirate Fest

After two to three days of furious accessory making, I went to the Norcal Pirate Fest in Vallejo yesterday. While there, I met up with the fabulous American Duchess, and we took a two hour sail down the Vallejo Straights on a two-masted schooner. It was so much fun!

The only finished accessories you get to see in this post are the hat and belt, and a bit of the fichu. I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the pockets (from the Janet Arnold pattern), the cap (my own pattern), or my necklace before I headed out of town this morning, so I'll show more detailed pictures of them all in a later post. I also made the burgundy petticoat within the week leading up to the festival, and I like it so much better than the floral one I had made. So now I have options! I'm also in love with my pockets. They're sooo much bigger than my old ones. It makes me wish we still wore them nowadays, so I could stop carrying my huge purse around everywhere.

Wiggery!

I have achieved Hair of Great Enormity! Thanks to  American Duchess's wig tutorial, I managed to turn a $13 wig from China into a lovely hedgehog wig. So naturally here's some pictures.

I made the mistake of putting the hat on my head before taking pictures without it, so please excuse the minor hat-head.

By the way, I'm finding blogger exceedingly frustrating to post pictures on (hence the crazy alignment). Anyone have any tips? (And if it's bothering you as much as me, you can read the same post on my LJ: theladyrebecca.livejournal.com)

I did a photoshoot today of some of my most recent costumes. The floral polonaise is not quite finished, but it's close enough. The other two are my 17th c gown, which I will be wearing at the Costume College Gala, and the Chemise a la Reine (both finished in Feb this year). 

Accessories

I actually accomplished something today! I took a break from my quilting to make a few accessories I'd been thinking about. The first is a petal bum pad, which is so wonderfully huge! And the second is an escoffion I plan to wear this weekend at the Bay Area Ren Faire.
