Accessories

I actually accomplished something today! I took a break from my quilting to make a few accessories I'd been thinking about. The first is a petal bum pad, which is so wonderfully huge! And the second is an escoffion I plan to wear this weekend at the Bay Area Ren Faire.

  1. Hi Rebecca,
I just made myself one of these a few days ago, with no pattern, etc., and I am sure I can't sew as well as you can. Have you tried it on with a gown yet? I love mine better than my 'bumroll', and they're so cute! It gives a really nice silhouette! Well done!

  2. Thanks! I haven't tried it on with a gown, but I have with a petticoat. I have yet to make a 1780s gown, and I'm thinking it might even be too big for my chemise a la reine. But it makes the petticoat look so wonderfully poofy! Definitely better than my normal bum roll.

  3. Hmmm.....I know mine does not go around the hips as yours does. I do have hip pads, as well as a hiproll, so I did a true 'bumpad', which only gives the fullness in the rear. Sometimes I have worn my hiproll and bumroll together. I think it's find to mix, if the gown and occasion call for it, lol!
I think perhaps with a chemise a la reine I would go for a plain bumpad like mine, and not too full...Have a grand time at the fair this weekend~
